Samos Beaches
Samos is a rather large Greek island located in the northeastern part of the Aegean sea. It's a very lush, green and beautiful island full of gorgeous beaches. Although Samos has several fine archaeological sites such as the temple of Hera, the island is most famous for excellent beaches and abundant opportunities for walking, mountain biking and windsurfing.

Travel to Samos
Samos is a very popular holiday destination and you should be able to find package holidays from most European countries. If you prefer to travel independently you will find that Samos is well connected to nearby islands or mainland Greece via ferry and there are daily flights to the island.
The island has three major ferry ports: Pithagorion, Karlosvassi and Vathi. Most ferry connections to Samos are made via a stop-over in Turkey.
Ferries
Samos is easily reached by ferry from Pireaus. The trip is about 8 to 14 hours (depending boat) and ferries usually stop at both Karlovassi and Vathi. There are less frequent connections to Chios, Lesvos, and the islands of the Dodecanesos which you can reach on frequent high-speed in the summer months. There are daily boats to Kusadasi, Turkey where you can visit the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, one of the world's most incredible archaeological sites. Samos has an airport so you can fly there from Athens. There are three sites daily and one in the summer.
Three daily ferries are going to the island of Ikaria (2,5hours) and one to the small island of Fourni (2 hours.)
Three weekly ferries are sailing to Chios (4 hours), one weekly to Lesvos (7 hours), Limnos (11 hours), Alexandroupolis (20 hours) and Kavala (20 hours).
Two daily ferries are going to the harbour of Piraeus (13 hours).
Daily ferries are calling in Naxos (6,5 hours). Paros (6 hours), Mykonos, Ios, Santorini and Syros. Five weekly ferries are linking Samos to Patmos (2,5 hours) and one weekly to Leros (3,5 hours), Kalymnos (4 hours), Kos (5,5 hours) and Rhodes (9 hours).
In summer, two daily ferries are linking the island of Samos with Kusadasi (Ephesus) in Turkey. Tickets can be bought from various travel agencies. A passport is obligatory.
Buses:
The local KTEL busses carry out transportation within the island. They have a quite good schedule and they connect the many villages and cities of the island in a satisfactory manner.
The island of Samos has a good bus service which serves various villages and beaches until 8 pm. From the capital of Samos 13 daily buses are going to Kokkari and Pythagorio, 8 to Agios Konstantinos and Agios Dimitrios, 7 to Karlovassi, 6 to the Hereon, 5 to Mytilini and 2 to Ormos Marathokampou, Avlakia and Votsalakia. 6 daily buses are departing to Pythagorio for the Hereon and 2 to Mytilini and Karlovassi.
From Karlovassi daily buses are going to Agioi Theodori, Pirgos, Koumandarei, Vathy, Pythagorio, Hora, Ormos Marathokampou, Votsalakia, Agia Kyriaki and Drakei. During summer, daily buses are leaving from the capital of Samos for the beaches of Tsamadou, Psili Ammos and Hereon.
Airport:
Samos International Airport "Aristarchos" is lying 4 km west of the village of Pythagorion, with daily connections to a number of countries. However, the easiest way to reach Samos by air is to fly first into Athens and then catch a connecting flight to Samos. 4 daily flights are linking the island with Athens and 2 weekly with the town of Thessaloniki (in northern Greece). The airline company of Air Manos flies daily to Athens and twice weekly to Thessaloniki and the islands of Mykonos and Santorini.
Cars and motorbikes
Numerous car and motorcycle rental offices are available in Samos. Several of the large hotels arrange motorcycle and car rentals. In the port of Samos you can find a price-list of the taxis fares for the several destinations on the island. The prices range from 5 to 40 Euro.
Taxi-boat
During summer, daily fishing boats are linking the capital of Samos to Pythagorion. There are excursion boats to some of the remote beaches and there is a boat that sails around the whole island.
