More About Pescara

Pescara, located along the Adriatic coast of Italy, sits in a beautiful spot along the country's eastern seaboard. Many who come to Italy speak glowingly of the beauty of the Amalfi coast, the history of Rome, the culture of Florence and the uniqueness of Venice. However, not much is said of the beautiful eastern coastline of this ancient country.

Its sandy beaches extend for over 20 uninterrupted km, and the areas in the hinterland underwent a remarkable development, so that presently there exist one wide conurbation, including nearby municipalities as Montesilvano, Chieti, Francavilla, Città Sant'Angelo, Spoltore, where over 400,000 people are concentrated (one third of the whole Abruzzo population).

Pescara is also famous as the birth place of Gabriele D'Annunzio, one of the main Italian poets of the 20th century, and the seat of the 2009 Mediterranean Games.
